Poll shows Los Angeles DA George Gascón, targeted as soft on crime, down 25 points in reelection bid
Gascon has survived two recall attempts
Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón is down 25 points against his challenger, Nathan Hochman, just before Election Day, according to a new poll.
According to the UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies and Los Angeles Times poll, 50% of 1,205 likely voters would cast a ballot for Hochman, an independent and former federal prosecutor, while 25% would support Gascón, a former LAPD assistant chief, if the election were held today.
The survey's results show that 25% are undecided.
Gascon has survived two previous recall attempts over a two year period.
Critics of Gascon point to rising crime rates in Los Angeles under his tenure.
