Majority of Americans believe Disney should return to 'wholesome' roots
71% of respondents of a Rasmussen poll said they agree that Disney needs to return to the wholesome content it was known for, and let parents decide when their children should learn about “sexuality.”
A big majority of Americans wish Disney would return to producing “family friendly” content, instead of pushing a more liberal agenda, according to a new poll released Monday.
Disney has faced backlash from the right-wing of the United States, after it began implementing LGBTQIA characters and stories into the magical world of Disney. But 71% of respondents of a Rasmussen poll said they agree that Disney needs to return to the wholesome content it was known for, and let parents decide when their children should learn about “sexuality.”
The poll comes after Disney introduced a non-binary character in its movie “Elemental,” which flopped at the box office, and introduced a same-sex teenage couple in “Strange World,” which also flopped.
The poll, conducted from April 21-23, found that 53% “strongly agreed” that Disney should return to its roots, and 22% disagreed.
Another question in the 2024 poll asked whether the LGBTQIA programming is “appropriate for children under age 12,” and 54% of respondents said it was not. But 13% said they were not sure, while a third said it was fine.
The poll was conducted online and by telephone and polled 1,255 U.S. adults. It has a margin of error of plus or minus three percent.
