Majority of voters want a Trump-Harris rematch debate: Poll
Trump and Harris participated in one debate on Sept. 10, in Philadelphia, while Trump also debated President Joe Biden separately while he was still seeking reelection in June.
The majority of respondents said they would like to see Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump square off in another debate before the November elections, according to a poll released Tuesday.
Trump and Harris participated in one debate on Sept. 10, in Philadelphia, while Trump also debated President Joe Biden separately while he was still seeking reelection in June. Trump was the clear winner against Biden, but both sides claimed victory in the second debate.
Harris has since called for a second presidential debate, but Trump has not agreed to another debate so far.
But the majority of voters (64%) said in a Quinnipiac University poll they would like to see the two frontrunners face off again, while just 31% responded that they do not want another debate. The survey also found that both candidates would receive 48% of the vote if the election was held today.
Trump also saw a boost in enthusiasm among his voter base, which grew from 68% in August to 71% in September. Harris saw a decline in enthusiasm dropping from 75% of her voters being enthusiastic about her nomination in August, and 70% in September.
Although the favorite to win the election in the poll was not clear, Trump ranked higher than Harris on issues like immigration and the economy while the Democrat fared better on preserving democracy and gun violence. Trump also polled better on caring about the American voters while Harris was seen as the more ethical choice.
The poll was conducted from Sept.19-22 and questioned 1,728 likely voters. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.4 percentage points.
