Most Americans say Biden administration ethics are 'not good' or 'poor': poll
All other administrations, except for Trump's, dating back to that of Ronald Reagan had higher ethics ratings, according to Gallup.
A majority of Americans say that the Biden administration's ethics are "not good" or are "poor," meaning that the ethics of President Joe Biden's officials are viewed as being among the worst of the past seven presidents, according to a new poll.
Just 42% of U.S. adults view the ethical standards of Biden officials as "excellent" or "good," while 55% see them as "not good" or "poor," according to a Gallup poll released Friday.
The Trump administration is the only presidential administration to have the ethics of its officials viewed more negatively with 37% viewing it as "excellent" or "good" and 59% saying it was "not good" or poor" in May 2018.
All other administrations dating back to that of Ronald Reagan had higher ethics ratings, according to Gallup.
The negative view may in part be due to lower-than-average reviews from Republicans, just 6% of whom view the Biden administration's ethics positively. This is significantly lower than the 19% of Republicans who viewed the Obama administration's ethics positively and the 33% who had positive views of the Clinton administration's ethics.
"Republicans’ extraordinarily low confidence in Biden administration ethics could also be connected to IRS whistleblower claims about FBI and Justice Department favoritism toward the president’s son, Hunter Biden, in their investigations of him for federal corruption, as well as tax and gun crime," Gallup wrote.
