Most Americans say war in Iran is going badly for United States, CBS News poll finds

Most Americans think the war in Iran is going badly for the United States, according to a new CBS News/YouGov poll released on Sunday.

According to the poll results, 57% of respondents said the war was going somewhat badly or very badly for the U.S. and 67% said U.S. citizens should not be willing to pay more for gas during the conflict.

Also, 63% of respondents said the war in Iran would make the U.S. economy weaker in the short term.

The survey was "conducted with a nationally representative sample" of 3,335 U.S. adults who were interviewed between March 17-20, 2026.

The poll has a margin of error of 2.1 points, according to CBS News.
