More than two-thirds of voters are concerned that President Joe Biden lacks the necessary fitness to serve as commander-in-chief, a new poll shows as he is running for reelection in 2024.
The NBC News poll released Sunday shows that 68% of registered voters have major or moderate concerns that Biden does not have the "necessary mental and physical health to be president," including 55% who expressed "major concerns." When NBC first asked that question in 2020 before Biden was elected president, 51% of voters had major or moderate concerns about the Democrat's fitness for office.

Voters' thoughts on former President Donald Trump's fitness have remained mostly the same since October 2020. The latest survey showed 55% of voters have major or moderate concerns about Trump's mental and physical health, compared to 51% nearly three years ago.
Biden at 80 is already the oldest president in U.S. history. If reelected, he would be 86 at the end of his second term.
The latest NBC poll also showed that Trump's lead in the Republican primary is surging. Although the 77-year-old Trump is ahead of other GOP opponents, surveys have shown different results as to whether he would beat Biden in a hypothetical 2024 matchup.
