Poll:13% of registered voters have favorable opinion of those who broke into the Capitol on Jan. 6

Thirteen percent of registered U.S. voters have a favorable opinion of those who broke into the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, according to a survey released on the eve of the one-year anniversary of the incident. 

The national survey by ScottRasmussan.com, which found 77% of respondents had an unfavorable view of the rioters, also found 64% of respondents believe "letting government bureaucrats set rules without approval of Congress or voters is a major threat to democracy."

The pollsters said that figure is up nine points since its June 2021 survey and attributed the change to perhaps concerns about officials' response to the pandemic.

The survey released Wednesday also found 32% of voters think it’s "very Likely that democracy in America will end in the next generation or so."

The survey was conducted from Jan. 3-4 among 1,000 registered voters, with a margin of error of 3.1 percentage points. 

The total includes 11% who believe it has already ended. 

"Republicans are significantly more worried about democracy ending than Democrat,” the pollster also said.
