Millions of Americans have begun receiving a third round of COVID-19 stimulus payments meant to compensate for a year of economic chaos, unemployment and lost income due to coronavirus shutdowns. 

Advocates claim such payments are necessary while COVID-19 remains a threat and mitigation measures remain in place. Critics, on the other hand, insist that restrictions should be lifted and the U.S. economy should re-open for business.
