Rep. Troy Nehls introduces 'Justice for Angel Families Act'

Texas Republican Rep. Troy Nehls and Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS) introduced the "Justice for Angel Families Act" on Wednesday to give financial support and resources for angel families, as well as the victims of crimes committed by illegal immigrants.

The measure would reinstate and codify the Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement (VOICE) office, according to Breitbart.

"This legislation is there to show support for the victims and the families to make sure that they get the support they need, whether it's counseling, whether its access to legal counsel or making sure that we hold their offenders accountable," Nehls said on the "John Solomon Reports" podcast.

"If they're going to open our southern border and let all these people in, I think they're gonna want the American people to know just what types of crimes these individuals are committing and how many innocent American lives are lost as a result of the hands of these criminals," the GOP lawmaker continued.

Nehls then shared the story of an 81-year-old woman in his district who was killed by an illegal immigrant in a car crash.

"He was drunker than Scooter Brown," Nehls said of the illegal immigrant who killed the woman. "We find him. We put him in jail and we find out that he's been deported six previous times. This legislation is to try to help this grandma's family. There are so many cases like this. You're not hearing it from the Biden administration. They're going to try to hide it."

Nehls's bill has the backing of former Trump Acting DHS Secretary Chad Wolf and the Federation for American Immigration Reform, according to Daily Headlines Live. 

“[Nehls and Marshall] want a nation that is safe and secure and are trying to properly assist angel families, while making sure their loved ones did not die in vain. Everyone should join FAIR in backing the Justice for Angel Families Act, no matter your chamber or party affiliation,” FAIR spokesman RJ Hauman said, Daily Headlines Live reports.
