'Revamp the RNC': Trump calls on party to end debates, focus on Biden
Trump, on average, enjoys a 44.5% lead over his nearest primary rival.
Former President Donald Trump on Monday called on the Republican National Committee to cancel the remaining primary debates and to instead focus its efforts against President Joe Biden.
"GREAT POLLS JUST RELEASED - BEST EVER! Harvard/Harris TRUMP 67%, DeSanctimonious 9%, Birdbrain 8%, Ramaswamy 5%, Christie - dead in the water, a total loser!" Trump posted on Truth Social. "TRUMP UP 7% to 10% on CROOKED JOE BIDEN. RNC must save money on lowest ever ratings debates. Use it against the Democrats to STOP THE STEAL! If not, REVAMP THE RNC, NOW!!!"
Trump, on average, enjoys a 44.5% lead over his nearest primary rival, according to RealClearPolitics. He averaged 58.9% support, while Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis claims 14.4%, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley takes 10.7%, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy earns 4.7%, and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie takes 2.3%.
Some polls have shown that Republicans largely see Trump's nomination as a near-certainty and would prefer the party focus its efforts on defeating President Joe Biden in 2024.
His call to "revamp the RNC" comes as Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel faces mounting calls for her resignation in the wake of a disappointing string of elections earlier this month.
