Russia released journalist Evan Gershkovich and American Paul Whelan on Thursday as part of a deal that has reportedly set two dozen people free, according to Turkish officials, where the exchange occurred.

According to the Associated Press, this is the largest prisoner swap between Russia and the U.S. in post-Soviet history.
