Texas GOP adopts new platform: Biden 'was not legitimately elected'
The Texas GOP platform also reads that several secretaries of states committed constitutional violations when they "illegally circumvented" state legislatures.
The Texas Republican Party has adopted a new platform, rejecting the certification of the 2020 presidential election results and declaring "that acting President Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. was not legitimately elected by the people of the United States."
The 40-page platform was adopted by the state GOP in Houston over the weekend for its biennial convention, The Hill reported.
"We reject the certified results of the 2020 Presidential election, and we hold that acting President Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. was not legitimately elected by the people of the United States," the new Texas Republican Party platform reads, according to The Washington Times. "We strongly urge all Republicans to work to ensure election integrity and to show up to vote in November of 2022, bring your friends and family, volunteer for your local Republicans, and overwhelm any possible fraud."
According to the platform, the results in five states were affected by "substantial election fraud in key metropolitan areas," which caused the election results to show that Biden won, The Hill reported.
The Texas GOP platform also reads that several secretaries of states committed constitutional violations when they "illegally circumvented" state legislatures.
Additionally, the new state party platform also objects to raising the purchasing age to 21 for some firearms, red flag laws, and rebukes Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) and eight other Republicans involved in negotiations for a bipartisan gun deal, according to the Times.
The platform also addressed homosexuality and transgender issues.
"Homosexuality is an abnormal lifestyle choice," according to the platform. "We believe there should be no granting of special legal entitlements or creation of special status for homosexual behavior, regardless of state of origin, and we oppose any criminal or civil penalties against those who oppose homosexuality out of faith, conviction, or belief in traditional values. No one should be granted special legal status based on their LGBTQ+ identification."
The Texas Republican Party platform added that it will "oppose all efforts to validate transgender identity," including taxpayer dollars being used for gender-reassignment procedures, and that doctors shouldn't prevent puberty's natural progression.
