Alaska Airlines resumed flights early Monday Eastern time after a three-hour ground stop due to a technical outage.

"At approximately 8 p.m. Pacific on July 20, we experienced an IT outage that resulted in a temporary, system-wide ground stop for Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air flights. As of 11 p.m. Pacific, the ground stop has been lifted, and our operations have resumed," the airline posted on X on Monday.

"As we reposition our aircraft and crews, there will most likely be residual impacts to our flights. It will take some time to get our overall operations back to normal. We apologize for the inconvenience and encourage guests to check the status of your flight before leaving for the airport."

The Alaska Airlines website shows that its fleet includes 238 Boeing 737 aircraft in addition to 87 Embraer 175 aircraft, with 45 operated by Horizon Air and 42 operated by SkyWest Airlines.

Alaska Airlines in September said it briefly grounded its flights in Seattle because of “significant disruptions” from an unspecified technology problem that was resolved within hours, The Associated Press reported.

In January 2024, the door panel of an Alaska Airlines flight flew off the plane shortly after takeoff.
