Trump at 57%, leads DeSantis by 43 points: poll
Overall, Trump enjoys a 40.3% lead in the RealClearPolitics polling average.
Former President Donald Trump maintains a clear lead over his Republican rivals, despite a litany of criminal indictments against him and his absence from the first primary debate.
Trump claimed the support of 57% of Republican primary voters in the latest Morning Consult survey. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis claimed 14% support while no other candidate reached the double digit threshold.
Tech mogul Vivek Ramaswamy placed third with 9%. Haley earned 6% support, doubling her pre-debate levels. Former Vice President Mike Pence tied Haley for fourth place.
Conducted Sept. 8-10, the survey questioned 3,715 potential Republican primary voters and has a margin of error of +/- 2%.
The survey appears in line with another poll showing Trump hovering around 60% support. An I&I/TIPP poll published this week showed Trump with 60% while DeSantis earned 11% and Ramaswamy again took 9% support.
Overall, Trump enjoys a 40.3% lead in the RealClearPolitics polling average.
