President Donald Trump on Thursday confirmed that he had spoken with Gov. Bill Lee, R-Tenn., and that the state would work to redraw its congressional district maps in the wake of a Supreme Court ruling that struck down racial gerrymanders.

"I had a very good conversation with Governor Bill Lee, of Tennessee, this morning, wherein he stated that he would work hard to correct the unconstitutional flaw in the Congressional Maps of the Great State of Tennessee," he posted on Truth Social. "Likewise, all of the other Political Representatives of Tennessee have promised to do so."

"This should give us one extra seat, and help Save our Country from the Radical Left Democrats, and their Country destroying Policies of High Tax, Open Borders, Transgender Mutilization, Defunding the Police, ICE, and Border Patrol, No Voter ID, Soft on Crime, and so much more. Thank you Governor Lee — PUSH HARD! " he added.

Trump's comments follow Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., calling for the state to redraw its maps to eliminate the Democratic-leaning district centered on Memphis.

Florida, for its part, already passed a new set of maps this week, adding as many as four GOP-leaning districts. Louisiana, for its part, has suspended its primaries and plans to redraw a new congressional map. In Mississippi, Gov. Tate Reeves, R-Miss., called for a special session for its states to draw a new set of maps.

Other southern states are expected to follow suit.
