Potentially driving Biden's poor performance against Trump is the perception that he is mentally unfit for office. A whopping 61% of registered voters did not believe Biden had the "mental soundness" to serve. That figure appears to have steadily increased since July of 2020, at which time only 39% said such.
By contrast, 52% said Trump lacked the mental soundness for office, up a net 1% from where he stood in July 2020.
Conducted between Sept. 9-12, the survey questioned 1,012 registered voters and has a margin of error of +/- 3%.
Trump leads Biden by 0.5% in the RealClearPolitics polling average, which does include the Fox survey at press time.
