Former President Donald Trump stands well ahead of former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley in the Granite State on the eve of the New Hampshire Republican primary, according to a recent survey.
In the wake of Trump's strong performance in the Iowa Caucus, several candidates have dropped out of the primary, boiling Tuesday evening's contest down to a showdown between Trump and Haley, who has invested heavily there and secured the endorsement of GOP Gov. Chris Sununu.
Despite Haley's efforts, however, Trump posted 57.4% support in the Monday morning Boston Globe/NBC-10/Suffolk University survey. Haley, for her part, trailed with 38.2% while 1.6% opted for another candidate, and 2.2% were undecided.
Conducted over the weekend, the survey saw 11 voters opt for Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis as their first choice prior to his withdrawal from the contest. Those voters were then assigned to their second choice of Trump or Haley, according to Suffolk University Political Research Center Director David Paleologos. The survey questioned 500 likely Republican primary voters from Jan. 20-21 and has a margin of error of 4.4 percentage points.
Overall, Trump's lead is generally in line with other surveys. The former president on average leads Haley in New Hampshire by 17.5%, according to RealClearPolitics.
