Trump more pro-Israel than Biden, voters say: poll
Biden's tenure, meanwhile, has seen Washington's relationship with Jerusalem publicly strain amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza.
Amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip, voters perceive President Joe Biden as a weaker supporter of Jerusalem than his predecessor, according to a recent survey.
Forty percent of likely U.S. voters in a recent Rasmussen Reports survey said they view Trump as the stronger supporter of Israel, compared to 27% who said the same of Biden. A further 21% indicated the pair were roughly equal in that respect while 12% were unsure.
Conducted Feb. 26-28, the survey questioned 979 likely U.S. voters and has a margin of sampling error of +/- 3%.
Under Trump's tenure, Israel signed the Abraham Accords to normalize diplomatic relations with several Muslim-majority nations, including Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, and Sudan.
Biden's tenure, meanwhile, has seen Washington's relationship with Jerusalem grow strained amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza. The administration vowed support for Israel in the wake of the Oct. 7 Hamas attack, but has openly disagreed with the Israeli government on the post-conflict resolution.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has insisted the nation must maintain security control over the Gaza Strip and West Bank while the Biden administration has called for the establishment of a Palestinian state.
Biden, specifically, has criticized the Israeli bombardment of Gaza, which has prompted widespread scrutiny because of civilian casualties and humanitarian aid issues.
