Trump says he would not reappoint Jerome Powell to lead the Fed
Powell's relationship with the former president turned sour in the back of his administration due largely to the Federal Reserve's decision to raise interest rates amid concerns that strong economic growth would spark inflation.
Former President Donald Trump on Thursday declared that he would not reappoint Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell to his post should he return to the White House in 2025.
Appearing in an interview with Larry Kudlow on the Fox Business Network, Trump told the host that "I would not reappoint him. I thought he was always late, whether it was good or bad, but he was always late."
Trump appointed Powell in 2018, and President Joe Biden nominated him for another term in 2022, which will end in 2026. Trump, further expressed surprise that Biden opted to keep Powell in place.
"I was surprised he was reappointed. Probably he got reappointed because they knew I didn’t like him much," he added.

Said inflation soared in 2022 under the Biden administration, prompting the Fed to keep hiking rates.
