Trump to visit Springfield, Aurora as cities struggle under migrant influx
"You may never see me again, but that's okay," he quipped. "Got to do what I got to do. What happened to Trump? Well, he never got out of Springfield."
Former President Donald Trump on Wednesday announced that he would visit Springfield, Ohio, and Aurora, Colo., as both cities struggle to contend with an influx of illegal aliens.
"I'm going to go there in the next two weeks. I'm going to Springfield and I'm going to Aurora," he said at a rally in Uniondale, N.Y.
"You may never see me again, but that's okay," he quipped. "Got to do what I got to do. What happened to Trump? Well, he never got out of Springfield."
Springfield has attracted national attention amid the influx of tens of thousands of illegal immigrants from Haiti. Recent reports have drawn national headlines over claims that some have been eating local pets and wildlife. Aurora, for its part, drew headlines after a Venezuelan gang overtook several apartment complexes in the city.
"This is not sustainable. How about in Springfield, Ohio, they had 32,000 This is a little beautiful town. No crime, no problem. 32,000 illegal immigrants come into the town," Trump said. "So they almost double their population in a period of a few weeks. Can you believe it? And you know what? They've got to get much tougher."
"I'm leading in Ohio by like 15 points, a lot, and we're going to take care of Ohio, and we're going to take care of Colorado, and we're going to take care of every single state in the union," he promised. "They're all under siege. A lot of people don't talk about but think of this."
He then described Springfield's approach to accommodating illegal alien children who did not speak English.
"What the hell is wrong with our country?" he asked. "No, no, we're getting them out of our country. They came in illegally. They're destroying our country, we're getting them out."
Trump has previously promised mass deportations from both cities.
