Trump vows 'large deportations' from Springfield and Aurora
"They're all now in the United States, and they're now taking over cities," Trump said.
Former President Donald Trump on Friday vowed to conduct "large deportations" from the towns of Springfield, Ohio, and Aurora, Colo., two towns that have drawn headlines for crimes committed by illegal aliens.
"We will do large deportations from Springfield, Ohio, large deportations," he vowed during a Los Angeles press conference. "We're going to get these people out. We're bringing them back to Venezuela."
"They moved all their criminals, not all of them, but the rest of them. They emptied their jails in Venezuela emptied their criminals, emptied the nests," he went on. "They're all now in the United States, and they're now taking over cities. It's like an invasion from within, and we're going to have the largest deportation in the history of our country, and we're going to start with Springfield and Aurora."
Aurora entered the national spotlight amid reports that a Venezuelan gang had taken over apartment complexes in the city.
In Springfield, meanwhile, the city has witnessed a sizable influx of illegal aliens from Haiti. Widespread rumors have circulated on social media that the Haitians have been abducting and eating local pets and wildlife, though local officials have disputed such claims.
Trump and Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, have also pointed to the death of 11-year-old Aiden Clark, who died in August 2023, when a Haitian illegal immigrant drove into a school bus.
Trump mentioned both during the presidential debate on Tuesday evening.
