Trump wants death penalty for illegal immigrants who kill Americans

Former President Donald Trump on Thursday called for illegal immigrants who kill American citizens or law enforcement officers to receive the death penalty.

"I am calling for the death penalty for any migrant that kills an American citizen or law enforcement officer," he said at a Thursday rally in Albuquerque, New Mexico. "And I will immediately ban all sanctuary cities in the United States where ending sanctuary cities, which is sanctuary for criminals. As we secure our border, we will bring back our economy."

Trump has previously called for drug dealers to receive the death penalty and vowed to conduct mass deportations of illegal immigrants from the United States.

Immigration has been a key fixture of the Trump campaign since he first ran in 2016.

The election is slated for Tuesday.
