Two of Donald Trump's declared challengers for the GOP's 2024 presidential nomination have expressed their support for the former president after news broke that a Manhattan grand jury had voted to indict him.

Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, businessman Perry Johnson, and tech mogul Vivek Ramaswamy each condemned Bragg's pursuit of the case. While the specific charges remain unknown, the case relates to a 2016 payment that Trump's then-personal attorney, Michael Cohen, made to Stormy Daniels.

Ramaswamy called the indictment a "dark moment" and condemned the case as "politically motivated."

Haley, meanwhile, insisted the case is "more about revenge than it is about justice."

Johnson excoriated Bragg and called on President Joe Biden to pardon Trump in order to stop the "theatrics."
