President Donald Trump indicated Tuesday that he would not be surprised to learn that the woman who was killed by a federal immigration officer last week was actually a "very solid, wonderful person" under "normal circumstances."

The comment was in reference to Renee Nicole Good, who allegedly attempted to run federal agents over with her car in Minnesota last week and died after an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer shot her.

Trump made the comment to "CBS Evening News" anchor Tony Dokoupil, who asked Trump if he had a message for Good's father, who was a supporter of the president.

Good's father told Dokoupil last week that his daughter was a warm and witty person who wrote poetry and taught English.

"I would bet you that she, under normal circumstances, was a very solid, wonderful person," Trump said. "But, you know, her actions were pretty tough."

Trump primarily defended ICE and the agent who fatally shot Good but admitted that video footage of the incident could be "viewed two ways."

"When you look at that tape, it— it can be viewed two ways, I guess," he said. "But when you look at the way … that car was pulled away, there are a couple versions of that tape that are very, very bad."

The Trump administration has maintained that the shooting was done in self-defense and noted that the agent was previously dragged by a vehicle in an attempted arrest of an illegal immigrant last year.
