A wildfire on La Palma, one of Spain’s Canary Islands, had burned through 3,500 hectares (more than 8,600 acres) by Tuesday, July 18, local media reported. On Tuesday, firefighting efforts focused on the Caldera de Taburiente National Park, a pine forest, according to El Confidencial.
