Coast Guard: Titan sub rescue will search in areas were ‘banging’ noise was detected
At a press conference in Massachusetts Wednesday, U.S. Coast Guard Captain Jamie Frederick said the Navy is analyzing ‘banging’ noises that were detected at 30-minute intervals Tuesday and Wednesday in the area of the Atlantic Ocean where the Titan submersible disappeared. Capt. Frederick said the search and rescue team plans to dispatch additional remotely operated underwater vehicles in the areas where the noises were last detected. The Titan tourist submersible lost contact early Sunday, shortly after it began its dive down to the Titanic shipwreck.
