DOJ issues legal warning to states on noncitizen voting prosecutions

"What we did here is put together a very detailed memorandum of law that informs the top election officials in the 50 states and the District of Columbia that it isn't just bad policy to let noncitizens vote in federal elections, it's a crime."

Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division Harmeet K. Dhillon notes that the DOJ intends to aggressively pursue criminal prosecutions against election officials if they do not follow this memorandum.
