Hong Kong: 100k+ residents leave city in one year

More than 113,000 residents have left Hong Kong over the past year, causing the city's population to shrink. People have fled Hong Kong's in record numbers as heavy-handed restrictions over the past year have, and they’ve been leaving in droves. Over 100,000 residents are abandoning the Chinese territory this year for a multitude of reasons. Most who are heading back to the United States and the UK claim they are unable to endure life any longer, in a city that’s become one of the most isolated in the world. Beijing’s political crackdown in the territory has also contributed to the population decline. An offer of citizenship by the UK has attracted at least 140,000 'Hong Kongers' to apply for the special “British National Overseas” or BNO Visa.
