Interior Dept. removes offensive term from federal use

The Department of Interior issued an order removing the use of a historically racist and sexist slur against indigenous women. Use of the term had been used in the names of parks, buildings, and roads. Department of Interior Secretary Deb Haaland, the first Native American woman to serve as a cabinet secretary, endorsed the order. This order is effective immediately and a 13-member geographic name task force has been created to identify and rename properties using the slur.
