Japan plans to offer families 1 million yen per child to relocate out of Tokyo
The Japanese government plans to boost financial support for Tokyo-based families with children to encourage them to move to less-populated areas across the country, a spokesperson from the central government told CNN. From April 2023, single parents and families will be eligible to receive 1 million yen ($7,700) per child -- three times what is currently being offered -- if they move to a less populated area. It applies to children either aged under 18 or if the child is 18 and still attending high school.
