Liz Truss: UK’s bureaucratic 'blob’ is much worse than in the US
Former United Kingdom Prime Minister Liz Truss says her country’s administrative state is more difficult to deal with than the United States since the President has the authority to appoint thousands of senior level government officials. “In Britain, the Prime Minister is only currently able to appoint 100 people and those people are relatively junior. They’re not part of the hierarchy,” she explains. “So all of the key positions—the Bank of England governor, the head of the Treasury—those people were un-sackable.”
