Lora Ries: Current immigration law needs complete overhaul, not just congressional reform
Lora Ries, Director of the Border Security and Immigration Center at The Heritage Foundation, says new legislation won’t fix our overcomplicated immigration laws. “We just need a much simpler law that doesn’t have so many exceptions and waivers and exemptions to every rule,” Ries says. “It just creates busy work and frankly attorney work. So really, we just need to chuck the whole law at this point. It’s not worth reforming. Start over, make it much more simple. Which I think both sides of the aisle would agree with.”
