Rep. Barry Loudermilk: Cop who fatally shot Ashli Babbit on J6 failed FBI background check
House Administration Subcommittee on Oversight Chairman Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) says Michael Byrd, the Capitol police officer who fatally shot Ashli Babbit during the January 6 Capitol riot, failed to pass a routine FBI background check and training to purchase a firearm. Rep. Loudermilk says his investigation also uncovered that Byrd was one of several Capitol Police officers who received a $3,700 bonus for his work on the “frontline” of the January 6 riot.
