Richmond Interim Police Chief describes chaos at Virginia high school graduation shooting

An armed man opened fire at a high school graduation ceremony in Richmond, Virginia Tuesday evening, killing two people and injuring five others. In an interview with CNN later that evening, Interim Police Chief for the Richmond Police Department Rick Edwards described the scene as chaotic and “very complicated”, with graduation attendees falling on the ground screaming and a child, later confirmed to be a 9-year-old girl, hit by a car. The 19-year-old male suspect fled on foot and was captured shortly after near the Virginia Commonwealth University campus.
