Sen. Blumenthal opens investigation into PGA-LIV merger
Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), chair of the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, has launched a probe into the PGA Tour’s merger with Saudi-backed LIV Golf. Both organizations received letters from Sen. Blumenthal Monday explaining the investigation and requesting documents related to the formation of the new merger. Sen. Blumenthal was one of several Democratic lawmakers to raise concerns last week about the PGA’s merger with the Saudi Arabian golf league, pointing out the Middle Eastern country’s alleged complicity in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
