Taiwan says it has no intention of escalating situation in China
China's military has been ramping up the rhetoric as it nears the end of drills in the waters and skies around Taiwan. State media says the People's Liberation Army practiced maritime blockades and ambush assaults on enemy vessels Monday. The drills began a day after Taiwan's president returned from a trip to visit officials in the U.S. and Central America – a move that angered Beijing. Taiwan's Defense Ministry spokesperson says the region has no intention to escalate the situation, but units remain on high alert.
