Thai court temporarily suspends PM election winner

Thai Prime Minister-elect Pita Limjaroenrat bid “farewell” to his constituents in a speech to Parliament Wednesday shortly after a court ruled to temporarily suspend him from his duties. Pita, who won a historic victory in May’s election, was suspended as a lawmaker from Thailand’s constitutional court after a complaint filed by the Election Commission accused him of violating election laws. Pita denied any rule-breaking and accused the Election Commission of rushing the case to court.
