Trump blasts media for not doing a 'great' story about U.S. ventilator producton
For a second day, President Donald Trump used his daily coronavirus news conferences to blast the media for its "unfair" coverage of how his administration quickly ramped up the production of U.S.-made ventilators to battle the coronavirus.
Speaking to reporters at the White House Wednesday, the president questioned why reporters weren't doing positive stories about how U.S. firms quickly ramped up production of ventilators, some of whom have reconfigured their businesses to produce the breathing machines.
"You guys don't ask me about ventilators," he said."They never mentioned it, or say, 'What a great job we've done with ventilators.' We're now supplying ventilators all over the world, because no other country could have done what we did. And you should say that's a great story on stage you say Trump was slow or slow. We were so fast."
On Monday, Trump announced that the U.S. has a surplus of ventilators that soon we will export some machines to countries like Mexico and Italy to assist in their coronavirus mitigation efforts.
U.S. officials are also drafting a plan to donate ventilators to African countries battling the novel coronavirus. The Kremlin says Russia will also accept Trump’s offer to provide ventilators for coronavirus patients if needed.
Trump on Sunday declared that the U.S. is the “King of Ventilators.”
Meanwhile, Trump announced that the that there will be a Thunderbirds and Blue Angels airshow tribute to health care workers.
