Ukrainian soldiers welcomed by residents in Kherson, tear down Russian sign claiming territory

Jubilant crowds welcomed Ukrainian soldiers into the liberated city of Kherson on Friday, November 11, after almost eight months of Russian occupation. Russia’s Ministry of Defense said on Friday that all of its forces in Kherson Oblast had withdrawn to the east bank of the Dnipro River. Footage taken by yevhenii_dudka captured the reaction of residents as Ukrainian soldiers entered the regional capital. In one clip a woman can be heard repeatedly thanking soldiers. The footage also shows soldiers ripping down a billboard display that claims Kherson is a Russian city. The Russian withdrawal came just under two months since the Kremlin claimed Kherson Oblast as a Russian territory.
