Washington fire crews stop growth of brush fire south of Tacoma

A brush fire that broke out on Thursday, July 6, near the town of Roy in Pierce County, Washington, was brought under control before it could grow into a forest fire, officials said. The fire prompted authorities to issue evacuation orders at around 3:30 pm for a one-mile radius around the fire, but those orders were lifted at 5:20 pm. The fire burned through just 7 acres before it was contained, according to South Pierce Fire and Rescue (SPFR).
