Dozens of people are dead after a cable bridge collapsed in India on Sunday.
Indian MP Mohan Kundariya, who represents the area of Rajkot where the tragedy occurred, said 50 people are dead, The Times of India reported. That number has not been confirmed.
The nearly 100-year-old suspension bridge across the Machchhu River had recently been renovated but it collapsed when it was unable to bear the weight of so many people.
Local media reports stated that 300-400 people were on the bridge when it collapsed. Videos on social media show people hanging onto the bridge's cables.
Gujarat Director-General of Police Ashish Bhatia said about 60 people are still missing.
