Most of Bangladesh was plunged into darkness on Tuesday after the country's energy grid buckled under higher usage amid persistent shortages.
As much as 80% of the country was in darkness on Tuesday as regulators worked to restore the grid. Investigators were reportedly working to pinpoint the exact location of the failure.
The country is largely powered by natural gas, which it has been rationing in recent months as supplies have tightened amid ongoing supply chain crises and difficulties worldwide.
The country had already been seeing regular regional outages amid the energy difficulties.
Bangladesh is home to nearly 170 million people.
