Ukraine requests emergency assistance via NATO

Ukraine requested emergency assistance via NATO's Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre.

Ukraine requested the assistance Monday from NATO allies and partner countries to "cope with the impact of Russia’s war on the civilian population of Ukraine," according to a NATO press release.

The request from the Ukrainian State Emergency Services seeks fire trucks, fire ladders, excavators, trucks with trailers, and armored vehicles for civilian evacuations.

All told, the Ukrainian government requested 149 pieces of equipment through EADRCC to address Russia's "using various weapons systems in massive and chaotic ways."

Russian tactics include "missile attacks on civilians and critical infrastructure," resulting in "injury and death among civilians and large-scale destruction of buildings and structures."

"To be able to respond rapidly, rescue people, deal with the consequences (including removal of debris and ruins), and perform related tasks, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU) urgently needs the in-kind assistance mentioned below," according to the request.
