Second suspect in Canadian stabbing spree dies of injuries, authorities say

Police no longer believe Damien was involved in the killings.

Myles Sanderson, the suspect police arrested on Wednesday in connection to a mass stabbing spree, has died of self-inflicted injuries.

Authorities confirmed that the 32-year-old was found near Rosthern, Saskatchewan, according to the New York Post. Police said Sanderson's injuries were of his own making, but did not specify when he sustained them. He had been on the run for four days.

Ten people died in the stabbings. Nine of them were from the James Smith Cree Nation, according to the outlet. The motivation for the stabbings remains unknown.

Police apprehended a second suspect in connection with a deadly stabbing spree near an indigenous community that saw at least 10 people killed, Canadian authorities announced on Wednesday.

A further 18 were injured after two individuals carried out the violent attacks on Sunday. Police identified Damien Sanderson and Myles Sanderson as suspects at the time. Authorities discovered Damien's body with "visible injuries … not believed to be self-inflicted." Police no longer believe Damien was involved in the killings.

Myles, meanwhile, was apprehended by Canadian authorities on Wednesday, according to NBC. "There is no longer a risk to public safety relating to this investigation," police declared. The motivation for the stabbings remains unknown.
