An explosion rocked a courthouse Wednesday in Ukraine's capital of Kyiv, the country's Internal Affairs Ministry said as police investigate the scene.

"Currently, an investigative and operative group, special forces, explosives technicians and dog experts are working at the site," the government agency said on Twitter, as translated.

Kyiv city officials said on Telegram that preliminary information indicates that the explosive device was set off by a defendant in a case going on in the courthouse.

It is unclear whether anyone was injured in the incident.
