Prigozhin's death in plane crash confirmed by genetic analysis, Moscow says
Prigozhin's death comes two months after he led a brief, failed uprising.
The Investigative Committee of Russia said Sunday that genetic testing confirmed that Yevgeny Prigozhin, the founder of the feared mercenary militia known as the Wagner Group, died in a plane crash last week.
The agency said that "molecular genetic examinations have been completed" and it showed that the identities of all 10 people aboard the flight who died corresponded with the passenger list.
Prigozhin, along with several top Wagner Group members, were listed among the passengers and crew aboard the plane that crashed last week in Russia, the country's civil aviation authority said.
Prigozhin's death at the age of 62 comes two months after he led a brief, failed uprising against the Kremlin's military. Prigozhin reached a deal with Russia to end the revolt and walk free.
