Russia slams Ukraine with missile barrage

Missiles flew across Ukraine, including in the capital of Kyiv, on Thursday as Russia targeted the country's critical infrastructure in a massive attack.

Russia fired 69 missiles in the latest offensive, 54 of which were shot down by Ukrainian troops, according to preliminary data from Ukraine's military. No fatalities have been reported yet.

"This morning, the aggressor launched air and sea-based cruise missiles, anti-aircraft guided missiles to the S-300 ADMS at energy infrastructure facilities of our country," Ukraine's General Staff said on Twitter. 

During the chaos, the Defense Ministry of Belarus said its forces had intercepted a Ukrainian missile Thursday morning, Reuters reported. Minsk said it is investigating the incident.

While Russian ground forces are struggling, Moscow has launched weekly missile attacks since October, according to The Associated Press. One of the largest attacks since Russia's invasion in February came earlier this month, when the Ukrainian military said it intercepted as many as 76 missiles from Russia.

The attacks on water and power have increased problems for Ukrainians, who were already struggling with the cold winter.
