Russian missile and drone attack damages Eastern Orthodox Christian landmark, kills 11
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia launched 70 missiles and 611 drones against Ukraine in Monday's attack.
A Russian drone and missile attack on Kyiv, Ukraine, on Monday killed 11 people and damaged a cathedral in an 11th Century monastery complex, including the Dormition Cathedral.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a series of posts on X that Russia launched 70 missiles and 611 drones against Ukraine. Sixty of those missiles struck Kyiv, the country's capital.
“This is how Russia shows the world its intention to continue the war,” Zelensky said.
U.S. President Donald Trump had separate phone discussions with Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday. Zelensky said he and Trump had a detailed conversation that included discussions on paths to an end of the conflict with Russia.
Trump told Putin that he is ready to help with the negotiations, but the Russian president said he expects that Zelensky and Europeans at the G7 summit will drag out the conflict.
