The USA hockey team defeated Canada in sudden death overtime on the final day of the Milan Cortina Olympics on Sunday.

Team USA has won its first gold medal since 1980.

The U.S. is competing for its first medal in men’s hockey since 2010, the year it won silver behind Canada.

Winning gold would be the first time for the team since 1980’s “Miracle on Ice” team beat the Soviet Union team.

Canada’s last medal was when the team won bronze at the 2018 Games in Pyeongchang.
