Mexican officials rescued 343 migrants, including more than 100 unaccompanied minors, from an abandoned trailer in Veracruz, the country's National Institute of Migration said.

A double-floor metal trailer with fans and vents was found on the highway Sunday without a driver, officials said Monday in a translated statement.

Most of the 103 unaccompanied minors were from Guatemala, and 212 adult migrants were from Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and Ecuador. There were 28 more migrants traveling as families as well.

The migrants "wore colored bracelets as a means of identification" in the trailer, Mexican officials said.

The unaccompanied minors were taken into the custody of the Veracruz family services system. The adults are being processed in Mexico.
